Sept. 10th: Introductions and course outline
Week of Sept. 12th - 16th
Sept. 12: Students did a Math assessment, then notes for our integer unit
were handed out. We filled in up to and including zero pair,
then we worked on worksheet 2.11 - due Sept. 13th
Sept. 13: Corrected worksheet 2.11, then finished our notes on integers.
Assigned the last 4 number lines at the end of the notes - due
Sept. 14th
Sept. 14: Went over the number lines assigned yesterday, then worked
through some more examples on the board. Started to tackle
some examples of how to use the 2 types of representing integers
to help us solve addition questions, then assigned this worksheet

Sept. 15: Corrected our work from yesterday, then added to our notes on
adding integers. Assigned the first column of questions (#1-16)on
the Sum Up side of this worksheet - due Sept. 16th

Week of September 19th - 22nd

Students were given the heads up that they will write their first
math test Fri. October 28th.
Oct. 25: Reviewed what was covered in fractions for our test on Friday.
Students that were missing assignments worked on those, while

Oct. 26: Went over what was covered in our unit on integers, then students
were given more time to finish incomplete assignments or work

Oct. 27: Started our new unit on Linear Relations with these notes that
reviewed the co-ordinate plane and how to plot points. Students
were given this worksheet and assigned #1-13 - due Oct. 31
Oct. 28: TEST DAY! Students wrote their first test today, then watched the
Goonies after they were done. Remember to complete yesterday's

Week of October 31st - November 3rd
Oct. 31: Corrected our assignment from last Thursday, then filled in our
notes on variables and expressions. Students were then assigned
questions #1-8 from this worksheet - due Nov. 1st
Nov. 1: Corrected yesterday's assignment, then filled in our notes on substitution.
Students were then assigned #26 - 46 from this worksheet to practice what
we just went over - due Nov. 2nd
Nov. 2: Students were assigned #25 - 45 odd only from yesterday's

Week of November 7th - 10th

Nov. 10: Students had their Remembrance Day service during this period,
so no new math was covered.

Nov. 15: Student's earned a free class today, no homework.
Nov. 16: We are going back to fractions for the next 2 weeks, so today
students were given notes on how to multiply fractions. They were
then assigned #4-24 even numbers only from this worksheet -

Nov. 17: Corrected yesterday's assignment, then took notes on how to
divide fractions. Assigned #1-15 on the back side (pg. 59 of yesterday's worksheet - due Nov. 18th
Nov. 18: Corrected yesterday's assignment, then began working on a
hand-in assignment. Students were assigned 2.5 #1-21 Odd, and
2.6 #1-21 Odd. Please make sure you show all of your work and
complete on a separate sheet of paper - Due Nov. 19th
Week of Nov. 21st - 25th
Nov. 21: Students were given time to finish the hand-in assignment from Friday (due
Nov. 22nd), then reviewed and worked on this assignment that we will
continue to work on tomorrow (circled questions only).
Second period was spent working on increasing our fluency with our
multiplication facts.

Dec. 9: Students were given notes on how to write an equation to show
the relationship in a table of values, then were given 6 questions
to follow - due Dec. 14th
Week of December 12th - 16th
Dec. 12: Students have Math Test #2 coming up this Friday. It will be on multiplying and dividing fractions, as well as linear relations. A
review and key was handed out today for students to work on in
preparation or their test.
Dec. 13: Students took the rest of the notes on how to write an equation to
show the relationship in a table of values and were assigned #1-4
from this worksheet, as well as #7-9 if they completed the first 4 - due Dec. 14th
Dec. 14: Corrected yesterday's assignment then discussed our test on
Friday. Students were then given their review to begin working on.
Dec. 15: Students finished working on their review for their test tomorrow.
This KEY was given so they could check their work.
Dec. 16: Students wrote their math test on multiplying and dividing
fractions and linear relations. Students who didn't finish today can
finish their test on Monday.
Week of December 20th - 22nd
Dec. 20: Students who had not finished their math test on Friday were
given time to do so while those that were done watched a movie.
Dec. 21: Students did some introductory notes on squares and square roots,
then played squares and roots bingo. No homework.
Dec. 22: Watched a Christmas movie for our last day. Happy Holidays, see

Jan. 19: Did a hands-on pythagorean activity today where students
measured the length and width of various rectangles, then used
their measurements to calculate the diagonal. Please finish all

Jan. 20: Students checked their calculations by measuring the diagonals.
They also worked on hand-in 3.2 - due Jan. 23rd
Week of January 23rd - 27th
Jan 23: Students are reviewing integer operations before we get into our
solving equations unit, so today students reviewed adding and
subtracting integers. They were then given 2 options for worksheets
with option 1 being the easier of the 2. Answer keys were also
provided to check their work against. Option 1; KEY; Option 2; KEY
Jan. 24: Today we reviewed multiplying and dividing integers, then students
worked on this worksheet. A KEY was provided. Our second period
we worked on some problem solving.
Jan. 25: We reviewed BEDMAS, then worked on questions using this skill.
Students had a couple of options, with 1 being the easiest, 3 being
the most difficult. Option 1 and KEY, Option 2 and KEY, Option 3 and KEY
Jan. 26: Continued our work with BEDMAS, and added 2 more options for
students that needed more of a challenge. Option 4, KEY,

Jan. 27: Students did a hand-in assignment on what we reviewed this week.

Week of March 20th - 24th
Mar. 20: Mr. Derlago is now in charge of delivering the lessons for the next
month. This week we are reviewing operations with fractions. Today
he went over how to add and subtract fractions with unlike
denominators (students have notes from back in October), then students were given worksheet 1 and worksheet 2 to practice. Students are handing in their work at the end of each class for feedback the next day.
Mar. 21: Students were given their first formative MRLC quiz today to see
where we need to focus our efforts going forward. After the quiz,
students were given time to work on their scale drawings.
Mar. 22: How to add and subtract mixed numbers was reviewed today, then
students were asked to do the first 5 questions on worksheet 1 and
worksheet 2.
Mar. 23: Students reviewed how to multiply and divide fractions and mixed
numbers, then were assigned all questions on worksheet 1 and
and worksheet 2, then #1-5 on worksheet 3 and #1, 4, 5, 6, and 7 on worksheet 4.
Mar. 24: Went over the quiz from Tuesday, then students worked on this
hand-in assignment. Once done, students were given time to
work on their scale drawings. Have a great Spring Break!
Week of March 27th - 31st

Week of April 3rd - 7th
April 3: Welcome Back!!! Students started a new unit on percents today. We
started with notes on what a percent is and how to represent whole
number percents using a hundred grid. Students were assigned
the following worksheet to complete - due April 4th
April 4: Students corrected the first page from yesterday, then handed in
the grids they coloured. They then continued on with the notes
from yesterday (see April 3rd) focusing on percents greater than 100 and fractional percents. They were then assigned this worksheet -

April 24: Students began a new unit on 3D objects today. We started with

views of 3D objects. We then did some in class practice of drawing
different objects using the 3 views. No homework.
April 26: Students were given a review that can help them prepare for their
math exam in June, along with the answer key for it. We used
today's class to begin some review. No homework.
April 27: Students wrote check-in quiz #2 today, then worked on their
percents poster assignment. No homework.
April 28: Reviewed how to draw the top, front, and side views of 3D objects
then worked on #3-9, omit #8 from this practice assignment - due April 30th
Week of May 1 - 5th
May 1: Went over Friday's assignment, then students worked on this
hand-in assignment - due May 2nd
May 2: Spent the first period deconstructing Check-In Quiz #2, then took
notes on calculating the area of various 2D objects and worked
on this assignment to practice what we had just learned - due May

May 3: Students finished up their assignment from yesterday, then worked
on colouring nets of a cube and a rectangular prism.
May 4: Corrected the area review worksheet, then worked on this hand-in.
Once students were done, they continued to work on their

May 5: Students ended up doing a kahoot yesterday that took longer than
planned, so today they worked on the hand-in posted yesterday, then

May 10: Went over these notes on how to calculate the surface area of
rectangular prisms then attempted these 2 questions - due May 11th
May 11: Corrected yesterday's assignment with this KEY, then went on to

May 12: Students missed math today as they were at the school play Into
the Woods.
Week of May 15 - 19th
May 15: Went over our questions from last Thursday, then went over the
notes on calculating surface area of cylinders. Students were asked
to try and get the 5 questions that followed done, but at least 3 if
possible - due May 16th
May 16: Corrected yesterday's assignment, then did 3 more practice
questions - due May 17th
May 17: Lots of students were away on a field trip so students that were here
worked on missing assignments and exam review - no homework
May 18: Students worked on this hand-in assignment, then worked at
building 3D objects from the three views - due May 19th
May 19: Students had a presentation during math today, so no lesson.

May 23: Student took notes on how to calculate the surface area of

May 24: Students spent their first period of math writing Check-In Quiz #3,
then added to their notes on calculating the surface area of triangular prisms. They then worked on one question in which the
base = 5cm, height = 9cm, length = 13 cm and the 2 equal sides of
the triangle were 11cm - due May 26th
May 25: Most students attended the Goldeyes game today, and those that
did not remained at school to work on missing assignments.
May 26: We corrected our question from Wednesday, then finished the
notes (see May 24th) for calculating the surface area of triangular prisms. Students then worked on question #2 parts a, b and d
from this worksheet - due May 29th
